Marine Corps veteran and journalist Nick Coffman’s screenplay, Born To Serve, reached the quarterfinals of the prestigious Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards Summer 2022 competition.
Coffman’s first screenplay is already ranked within the top 35% of all scripts on Coverfly.com. It also remains in contention for placement in several other prominent international screenplay competitions.
Based on a true story, Born To Serve follows three Marine commandos wrongfully charged for the murder of one of their own countrymen. The main character is a battle-tested Marine Corps Special Operator – also known as a Raider – who is assaulted by an American military contractor on New Year’s Day while deployed to Iraq with his fellow Raider teammates.
The case of self-defense gone wrong leads to the death of the American military contractor. Now the three seasoned Marine Corps Special Operators must fight a corrupt military commander and legal system intent on destroying them.
Born To Serve’s message is about standing up for the rights of our service members in the face of injustice within the military “justice” system, and against an organization that is seen as infallible by outside observers.
Born To Serve aims to become A Few Good Men for a new generation.
